Joybird Vehicle Wrap
CLIENT: Joybird – Modern Furniture & Home Decor Brand
ROLE: Concept Development, Design, Illustration, Final Production Artwork
THE BRIEF: Joybird approached me to create a delivery vehicle wrap that would express the personality of their brand while highlighting the diverse, customizable nature of their furniture and home decor offerings. The goal was to transform their fleet into a memorable and engaging visual experience that would turn heads and leave an impression as the vans moved through city streets.
Creative Direction
While I was given a great deal of creative freedom, it was important that the wrap remained aligned with Joybird’s existing brand identity—particularly in terms of logo use and consistent application of their signature brand color. The challenge was to deliver something fresh and fun that still felt unmistakably Joybird.
Process & Exploration
I began by immersing myself in the Joybird brand—reviewing their site, catalog, and social channels to understand their design language and product highlights. After sketching several early concepts, I developed three distinct directions:
Illustrative
A clean, modern set of vector illustrations featured iconic Joybird pieces and decor. As a playful nod to their pet-friendly furniture marketing, I included a dog based on an internal team member’s pet who had appeared in social campaigns—an Easter egg reflecting company culture.
Textile Patchwork
This direction showcased Joybird’s wide range of fabric textures and colors. I scanned real swatches and designed a bold, patchwork-style wrap—visually rich yet unified by Joybird’s main brand color and logo. This solution emphasized product customizability and tactile beauty in an eye-catching way.
Minimal Branded
A cleaner, more conservative backup option, this concept used Joybird’s primary color as a full-vehicle flood with large, bold logo placement for visibility and impact.
After presenting these options to the Joybird Art Director, the team selected the textile patchwork direction. We refined layout, scale, and logo treatment through a few rounds before finalizing the wrap design.
Special consideration was given to how the design would perform at various viewing angles, ensuring that even when only a portion of the van was visible, the branding and concept would still communicate clearly and effectively.
Collaboration
I worked closely with Joybird’s in-house Art Director throughout the project. He served as my primary point of contact, providing feedback and routing concepts internally. Final mechanical files and wrap mockups were delivered to his team, along with references for print alignment and production setup.
